In line with its policy of expanding in the French wind energy segment, EDF Energies Nouvelles is announcing the commissioning of a 23 MW wind farm at Fraïsse-sur-Agoût (Hérault department) in south-western France.

This facility comprising ten turbines with a unit capacity of 2.3 MW was developed and built by EDF EN France. Enercon and EDF EN Services will operate and maintain the wind farm.

Its location is unusual in that the facility is situated at an altitude of 1,000m in a very windy area. At full tilt, it is expected to generate around 90,000 MWh p.a.-the equivalent of the electricity consumption of 50,000 inhabitants.

The wind farm is the 44th to have been developed and built by EDF Energies Nouvelles in France since its creation.
