Heysham 1 nuclear power station boiler findings
One of the two reactors at Heysham 1 nuclear power station operated by EDF Energy has been shut down since 11 June for refuelling and to allow investigations to take place on one of its eight boiler units. This followed tests which took place during a period of planned maintenance and inspection in 2013.

Carbon footprint: EDF halves its CO2 emissions in France
In its commitment to fight climate change, EDF is taking a major step forward in the management of its carbon footprintby halving its CO2 emissions in France by 2016. This amounts to a total reduction of 12 million tonnes of CO2 between1990 and 2016, as the result of an ongoing, voluntary industrial policy implemented by EDF in France and by the wholeGroup on an international level. Over the same period, electricity production has risen by 26% (annual production of 469TWh compared with 371 TWh in 1990).
EDF showcases its new platform for sustainable urban development with Singapore and opens a R&D centre dedicated to urban planning
On the occasion of the 2014 World Cities Summit in Singapore, EDF has revealed its urban system modeling platform forsustainable urban development. EDF also announced the creation of the EDF Asian Sustainable Cities Center of Excellence, inorder to speed up innovation and to strengthen ties with Singapore. This R&D Center devoted to urban planning aims atdeveloping and performing new collaborations with agencies of the city state as well as other cities in the region.

EDF and China Datang Corporation to build and operate a 2,000 MW ultra-supercritical coal-fired power plant in China
EDF and the electricity producer China Datang Corporation (CDT) have signed an agreement whereby EDF will hold a 49% stake in Datang International Fuzhou Power Generation Company Ltd (FPC). The joint-venture is set to build and operate an ultra-supercritical coal-fired power plant with two units with an output of 1,000 MW each. Construction works have just started on the Fuzhou site in Jiangxi province in South-Eastern China.
